ELEVATE ENGINEDIGITAL SOLUTIONS

CIVIL & CONSTRUCTION

Websites and search for civil and construction businessesthat get you shortlisted.

Head contractors, developers and councils check you out online before they pick up the phone. I build the website, capability pages and search presence that show you're the right size, have done the work and hold the right tickets, so you make the shortlist.

How your next client checks you out

Construction buying is mostly business to business. The buyer isn't browsing. They're checking whether you're a safe choice.

They search for the work and the area

"Civil contractors Western Sydney", "bulk earthworks Penrith", "drainage contractor Hills District". If you don't appear, you're relying entirely on people who already know your name.

They look for proof of capability

Similar projects, the size of jobs you handle, your plant and equipment, and who you've worked for. Generic stock photos of hard hats tell them nothing.

They check you can be approved

Quality, safety and environmental accreditations, insurances, licences and your safety approach. If a buyer can't find them quickly, you may be harder to get onto a panel or prequalified list.

Then they call or email

Construction buyers rarely fill in a generic contact form. They want a direct number, a named contact and a way to request your capability statement.

Where construction websites lose work

  • No capability statement, or a PDF from 2019.It's often the first thing asked for. If it's out of date or missing, it suggests the business is too.

  • Projects with no detail.A photo and a suburb name doesn't show capability. Scope, client type, value range, duration and challenges do.

  • Accreditations buried or missing.ISO 9001, 14001 and 45001, insurances and licences should be easy to find, not hidden in a PDF.

  • One page for all services.Earthworks, drainage, concrete and plant hire each have their own buyers and searches. One page can't rank for all of them.

  • Hard to use on site.Supervisors and PMs check your site on a phone between jobs. Slow pages and tiny phone numbers cost calls.

  • Nothing for recruitment.Experienced operators and supervisors check your website too. A careers page that shows your projects and plant helps you hire.

What is one extra project a year worth to you?

Construction marketing is judged on projects, not clicks. Put in your typical numbers and compare the profit from a few extra projects with the cost of ongoing work.

What to put in a construction capability statement

It's often the first thing a head contractor, developer or council asks for. Keep it to two to four pages, update it every six months, and publish it on your website as well as a PDF.

  1. Company overview. Who you are, years operating, where you're based and the regions you mobilise to.
  2. Core services. The specific work you do (bulk earthworks, detailed excavation, drainage, kerb and gutter), not a generic "civil works".
  3. Project experience. Three to six relevant projects with client type, scope, value range, duration and outcome.
  4. Plant and equipment. Machines by type and size, owned or hired, plus any specialist attachments.
  5. People and key personnel. Supervisors and managers with experience and tickets relevant to the work.
  6. Accreditations and systems. Quality, safety and environmental certifications, such as ISO 9001, ISO 45001 and ISO 14001, or the systems you follow if you're not certified yet.
  7. Insurances. Public liability, contract works and workers compensation, with cover levels.
  8. Licences and prequalifications. Relevant licences and any government or head-contractor prequalification you hold.
  9. Safety approach. How you manage safety on site, and your record, stated honestly.
  10. Environmental approach. Erosion and sediment control, waste and spoil management, and how you protect sensitive sites.
  11. Clients and references. Who you've worked for, with permission, and a referee or two.
  12. A named contact. A real person with a direct mobile and email, not a generic info address.

Government and tier-one work: many public and larger private projects require contractors to be prequalified before they can tender or be engaged. Keeping your capability statement, website and prequalification details consistent makes that process easier and makes you look like the safe choice.

Why these matter

Each one comes from someone with a job to fill. Most businesses rank for their own name and nothing else, so even a few of these can open up new clients.

How we choose yours

We start with the work that makes you the best margin, in the areas you want to grow. Then we check what's realistic to rank for and what's worth paying for in Google Ads.

Why work with me

35+ years in the trade sector

I've worked across trades in Melbourne and Sydney and built and sold four businesses. I understand quoting, margins, cash flow and crews, not just websites.

Based in Western Sydney

Close to the industrial and growth areas where much of Sydney's civil work happens. I'm happy to meet at your yard or office.

Proof you can inspect

Live sites for a freight business and my own service business, both built with the same structure. See the work.

One accountable person

You deal with me from the first call to the monthly report. No account managers, no lock-in, published prices.

Also in transport or logistics? Many civil businesses run their own trucks and float work. See websites and search for transport businesses.

How we'd start

  1. Free Lost-Enquiry Check (30 minutes)

I search for your business the way a project manager or developer would, and show you what they find, and who they find instead.

  2. Hands-On Diagnostic ($695)

A ranked plan covering your website, capability proof, Google Business Profile and search visibility. Credited in full toward the fixes if you go ahead within 30 days.

  3. Build, fix or keep improving

A new site or capability statement quoted in writing, a Fix Pack from $2,400, or ongoing work from $250 a week. See pricing.

Questions construction owners ask

We win most work through relationships. Why does the website matter?

Because the people you haven't met yet check you out online before they call. A project manager given three names, a developer's new estimator, a council officer building a panel: they look at your website to see if you're the right size, have done similar work and hold the right accreditations. A weak site doesn't lose you existing relationships. It stops new ones starting.

Do you write capability statements?

Yes. I can write and lay out a capability statement that matches your website, covering your services, plant, key projects, accreditations, insurances, safety and contacts, and publish it as a page and a downloadable PDF so it's always current.

Can you help with tender responses?

I focus on the digital side: the website, capability statement, project case studies, search and ads that support your tenders. Detailed tender writing and pricing is specialist work and best done by you or a tender writer, who can then use the material we build.

Is Google Ads worth it for plant hire?

Often, yes. Wet and dry hire searches like "excavator hire Blacktown" or "bobcat hire Penrith" come from people ready to book, often urgently. A tight search campaign aimed at the machines and areas you actually cover, with ads shown when someone can answer the phone, can pay for itself quickly. See Google Ads management.

We don't have good photos. Is that a problem?

It's common, and fixable. Phone photos from site, taken the right way, work well for project pages: wide shots for context, close-ups of finished work, plant on site. I'll give your supervisors a simple shot list. Always check you have the client's permission before publishing project images.

We work across several regions. Do we need pages for each?

Only where you genuinely mobilise and have work to show. A page for each region you service, with the projects you've done there and the depot or yard you work from, is far more useful than a long list of suburb names.

What does it cost?

Ongoing SEO and website care starts from $250 a week, Google Ads management from $350 a week, and the Hands-On Diagnostic is $695. A new website or capability statement is quoted after the free call. All prices are on the pricing page, with no GST added.

How long does SEO take for a construction business?

Specialist civil and construction searches often have less competition than consumer trades, so well-built service and project pages can start appearing within two to four months. Broad terms like "builder Sydney" take much longer. Your Google Business Profile and capability pages usually show results first.

Should we have a careers page?

Yes, if you're hiring or will be. Experienced operators and supervisors check your website before they apply. A careers page that shows your projects, plant, safety culture and how to apply helps you compete for good people, and it can rank for searches like "excavator operator jobs Western Sydney".
